Preparation for the tour continues apace, although no further games have been played. One thing I’ve discovered is that the D20s I was using in my last couple of games are actually not laid out correctly, having the ascending numbers on adjacent sides rather than opposite sides adding to 21. I’ve rectified this by ordering a new set of polyhedrals off eBay, and am hoping the new D20 rolls better than the ones I have been using.
Outside of gaming, hobby progress is proceeding, although real life has been a little busy of late and so I haven’t made it as far as I’d like. Positively, I’ve gotten the two tour exclusive miniatures painted up and ready to wreak havoc on the tabletop.
First up, the swamp monster figure. I Googled ‘frozen swamp monster’ to gain some inspiration and found the Swamp Thing image here, which I used for inspiration. I tried to create a glowing red effect for it’s eyes, and whilst I’m not super happy with how it turned out, it was a good learning experience.

I also painted up the Albert Magnus figure. I again Googled some images and all seemed to feature white, red and brown clothing, so figured white robes with a red cloak would look quite striking. I tried to do a little freehand work on his hat, the intention was for it be a red shield with a black fleur de lis on it, but my ability to paint freehand at that scale was shown to be somewhat lacking. It still looks pretty cool and, again, was a great learning experience.

Outside of this, I’m pretty close to getting the warband itself finished and have started working on a terrain piece which I think will look pretty cool. More on these in the next update….
