I started the year off quickly making the most of my holiday over the festive season to get some hobby done. My hobby will be less structured than last year, so I can leave room for new games and models as inspiration strikes. With that said, on to what I got painted.
Rangers of Shadow Deep
The game I’m currently most excited about saw a little progress over the month, with my ranger model, Andreas, finished as well as some clue markers. I’m planning to get organised for the first scenario over the next few weeks.

A Song Of Ice And Fire Tabletop Miniatures Game
This was the main focus over January, and I now have a full 50 points worth of Night’s Watch painted up and ready to march out. This has taken as early lead as most played game of the year and should maintain that position as I’ve been having a lot of fun with it, despite some crushing defeats!
The models were very quick to paint, as I followed TheMiniJunkie’s guide on how to speed paint them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVut5slY0kM) and used snow effects from Vallejo and Games Workshop to do the bases (with a few rocks and sticks glued down before priming). Apologies a few of the photos are overexposed, I’ve been experimenting with camera settings, not always super successfully.

Gaslands
You may have seen my write-up for Main Force Patrol, the first organised play event in Melbourne. I finished off a few cars to round out the Slime team I took to the event. I’m really happy with the flames on the ute, and the burger-mobile is just hilarious. I really need to get some more cars done up for this as they’re enjoyable to build and paint and I love playing the game itself.

I also bashed out the start of a Rutherford team

Shadespire
I bought myself a Chaos Gargant and December’s White Dwarf to get the rules for running it in Warhammer Underworlds. I’ve had two hit outs playing against it, the first ended in abject failure, whilst the second we took down the beast itself. We hadn’t made custom decks for it, so it was a little more challenging than it might otherwise have been but a fun and different way to play. I’m really happy with how the model itself came out, I feel I really nailed the skin tone.

Conclusion
I’m really happy with the amount of hobby I got done over January, although it’s balanced out a bit by slowing down in February as work ramps back up! I really need to get organised and bring Rangers of Shadow Deep to the table as I’m super excited to play it.
