November was a disrupted month for me, with a busy period at my day job, illness and a trip home to Queensland at the end of the month. That’s also been the driver of a the quietness on the blog, although I do have a couple of games of This is Not a Test to write-up, as well as initial thoughts on Gaslands.
That being said, approximately zero progress was made on most of my goals due to Gaslands fever consuming me. Without further ado…
Paint All Massive Darkness Models
Still to get back to this, but the juices are starting to flow. I’m resigned to not getting everything done by year-end, but the painting of the whole core game was an achievement I was proud of.
Filling Out the Frostgrave Bestiaries
No progress here, although I’m currently painting a coupleof ranger models for Rangers of Shadow Deep which will no doubt do double duty in Frostgrave warbands.
Shadespire Nightvault
I got the two warbands from the Nightvault box painted during the month. This has far and away been my most played game of the year, and I’m still really enjoying it although I’ve fallen quite a bit behind in terms of new releases. Hopefully the new year will afford me some time to catch-up on the painting and cards from the last two expansions.

Age of Sigmar
No progress here, still interested in another game or two with the 1,000 point list I’ve painted before I progress this any further.
Gaslands
Gaslands fever has gripped me recently, with loads of research and practice put into modding some Hot Wheels cars. So far, I’ve knocked out the terrain from the Speed Freeks box (as I figure it’ll be relatively fitting, if a little over sized), three cars and two bikes. I’m also well progressed on my next team (a pick-up and car for Team Rutherford) as well as having plenty of additional vehicles to start experimenting with. This will probably be my gaming focus early in the new year, although hobby-wise I think my focus will switch between this and other pursuits going forward.
All the contents of the Speed Freeks box are of excellent quality, the terrain was well detailed but quick to paint, and as you’ll see in the pictures below, the game boards are nice and make a great play surface with good detail on it. Looking forward to getting some paint on the Ork vehicles as well, although not sure the game will ever see play given how much I’m enjoying Gaslands.
Conclusion
A productive month, hobby-wise, although it would’ve been good to have been able to spend more time at the workbench. December will be disrupted again due to the Christmas period, but I do have a couple of weeks off work to reflect on the year and get more hobby done.
