I was hosted by Nik again for a re-match, with the encounter this time taking place on some new city terrain Nik had put together. Forces were the same as last time, with Nik’s Raiders recruiting a new member after the unfortunate events of last scenario.
We rolled up Snipe Hunt as the Scenario providing five areas to search for rare relics (marked with green circles in the below photo), with a Ripwind in play as a hazard (marked by the orange circle template). I deployed on the top left edge, with Nik opposite.
Nik wins initiative this round and elects for me to start off.
I start with Anna moving twice on my right flank, then Logan fails his activation test and moves forward once.
Scrappy (one of Nik’s dogs) activates and moves onto one of the search areas, nailing it and making the first discovery of the game. He then picks his champion who fails activation and moves forward.
I activate most of my warband and position them to move on and search next turn, however my leader fails and makes a single move.
Lucky hides behind the ute on my left flank, Very Hungry, the shotgun champ and SMG armed raider also move out, positioning for next turn. Nik’s leader also fails his activation roll.
My minigunner activates but fails his roll and moves forward.
Nik’s light machine gun armed dude runs into a nearby building and takes up a commanding view at a second level window.
My rifleman fails his activation and runs up the back stairs of a nearby building.
I win initiative this turn and start with Anna who moves forward and searches one of the objective areas scoring some loot. Hawkeye moves on to the top of the building on my left flank and fires his bow but misses, my rifleman fails again but finishes his climb up to the roof with Hawkeye.
Nik moves his pistol girl forward and throws a smoke grenade. The light machine gunner moves to better position near the window and fires at Hawkeye but misses. Nik’s leader moves forward to threaten my team next turn. Then his SMG and shotgun armed guys position in and around the middle building with his leader before Scrappy fails his activation roll.
My other rifleman also fails his activation roll and just makes a move.
Very Hungry moves up and Lucky moves behind a car.
My minigunner fails again and my other guys move into position. Wade moves out into the open next to one of the areas and I’m hoping to win initiative next turn so he can search and run…
Nik wins initiative and has his machine gunner open fire on Wade, getting three shots with burst fire, but only one scores a hit. Lucky then charges my minigunner and takes him out of action easily. Nik’s shotgunner moves out and fires on Wade but misses. Nik’s SMG then charges Wade (which I said at the time seemed a little aggressive) and scores a hit but fails to wound. He follows up with a second attack however Wade prevails and takes him out of action. Pistol girl fails her activation roll and uses her action to search the area she’s next too but fails that as well.
The machine gun blast on Wade proves effective and takes him out of action, foiling my plan to search and sneak away with him.
Frank (my glorious leader) activates and blasts Lucky with his shotgun, then searches the nearby area uncovering some loot. My rifleman moves and fires at Lucky but misses. Hawkeye fails his activation roll so takes a potshot at the Shotgunner but misses.
Lucky succumbs to Frank’s shotgun blast.
Scrappy fails his activation roll and slinks off to hide near Nik’s deployment zone.
Logan dashes forward to the middle of the board. My other rifleman fails so just moves again.
Very Hungry moves onto a loot area. Nik’s leader falls back then charges Logan to protect pistol girl however manages to jam the chainsaw (again!).
I win initiative, however fail Anna’s roll, so she just takes a wild shot at Nik’s pistol girl but misses.
Very Hungry also fails his activation roll so just searches the loot area he is on.
My rifleman fires at the shotgun raider and hits, then Frank moves and fires at the shotgun radier as well but misses. Hawkeye fails his activation roll so takes a shot at Very Hungry but misses.
The shotgun raider moves then fires at my rifleman, just missing. Pistol girl searches the last area and clears it then moves back. Nik’s leader attacks Logan and hits but fails to wound, however the second attack takes Logan out of action.
My other rifleman fails his activation roll so just shoots at Very Hungry and hits but doesn’t wound.
The machine gunner burst fires on my rifleman, hitting him and taking him out of action.
The game ends at this point given all the loot areas have been searched, with Nik victorious 8-6 victory points.
Nik’s Submachine Gun raider doe not make it through, winding up dead, however Lucky survives but is banged up.
On my side, Wade loses all his items but is not hurt, Logan has a close call but isn’t injured, whilst the minigunner and rifleman are both banged up.
Nik has level-ups for his leader (+1 strength), champion (+1 ranged), machine gunner (+1 ranged), Scrappy (Bully). Additionally, Nik rolls two tens and has Lucky take +1 move and his shotgunner take Ranger.
I see Frank (leader) level up (+1 wound), Logan (+1 melee), Hawkeye (takes the Marksman skill)
Nik gets three number cards (10. 8 and 9) as well as the Ace of Spades, giving him a chance to add three Nuisance-class critters. However he does not manage to succeed, but there is no downside. Nik also receives 15BS and gets +3 to his rarity rolls from the three areas searched.
I get the nine of clubs and five of diamonds, but also flip the King of Spades and Red Joker. The King of Spades sees me search an intact pre-fall building, recovering 40BS worth of goods. The Red Joker sees me discover a COG Bunker (pre-fall military installation) however Anna decides it’s too dangerous and instead elects to sell the location for 20BS. I get 10BS and +2 to my rarity roll for my areas searched during the scenario, leaving me with a considerable loot pile and an ultra-rare relic available.
Another fun hit-out of TNT, with the game running a lot quicker than our Pest Control game, given there were significantly less activations without the zombies. My warband’s lack of mobility relative to Nik’s raiders were my undoing here, and I think I misplayed not shutting down his dogs early although that may be hindsight. An interesting post-game for me, with plenty of barter script available to acquire new relics (and replace Wade’s lost equipment!). Looking forward to my next game, and have started planning a cool new warband based on my experience so far.
