April was another month where it felt like I poked and prodded a couple of projects with little progress for the month, but then had several models all come together at once to see great progress. I was away over Easter, enjoying some beach time and getting some reading in…
But enough of that, onto the pictures of models which I’m sure you’re all here for.
Paint All Massive Darkness Models
I’ve hit a good rhythm on these, doing a mob type, hero and roaming monster each month presently. This month saw the Orc Warriors finished off, the troll completed and Siegfried the dwarf hero all done. I’m now very close to having the whole core box finished, and well progressed on the Lightbringer pledge extra models as well. After that I’ve only got three smaller expansion boxes, so looking good to get everything done by year end.
Paint DCU Models
Dr Fate remains basecoated on the paint table mocking me and my lack of progress on him… May could be the month I knocked this out, however I think I need a game of Marvel/DCU miniatures to get my juices flowing again.
Filling Out the Frostgrave Bestiaries
I banged out these gorilla and giant snake models, and I figure I can use them for Frozen City or Ghost Archipelago. The models come from the Bushido range and I’m pretty happy with them, albeit they are metal so were not very easy to put together.
Shadespire
Monkey and I picked up Shadespire to try out and I knocked out the Stormcast Eternals from the core box. I’ve since grabbed the Orruks and skeletons boxes as well, so I have a couple more crews to get painted up over May. Expect an initial thoughts post on this game soon.
This is Not a Test
I got the opportunity to play a game of This is Not a Test during the month (initial thoughts and battle report coming soon), and decided to put a warband together from my WWX models. I couldn’t quite get a fully painted force with what I had and thought a minigun might be in order, so quickly painted up Stonewall Jackson to lay down a Hail of Lead.
Conclusion
I’ve deviated a bit from my goals this month with some new games and projects coming online. I’m feeling well progressed on the goals I set at the start of the year, so comfortable that I can get them done. Regardless, it’s been good to paint up something a bit different to what I’ve been working on all year.
