February was another fairly productive hobby month, albeit with a couple of other obligations which slowed progress (including work and some ongoing health challenges). Despite that, I’ve managed to remain focussed (mostly) on the goals I set, albeit have a couple of ideas which may derail them in the coming months.
Paint all Massive Darkness models
Lots of progress here for the month, with a couple of goblin leaders and the Nightmare Thing finished and Liliarch and some additional goblins pre-shaded and ready to roll. I knocked out the Nightmare Thing to use as the Alchemical Monstrosity in the Frostgrave Dark Alchemy campaign.
Paint DCU Models
I got the four magic users I had on the table done and dusted this month. To fill it out into a full DCU team, I have two options up next on the table:
- Dr Fate, which was selected at Tomsey’s suggestion, as he is sometimes Zatanna’s father
- Wonder Woman, which I’d originally selected as I thought she was somewhat magical and would make a good hitter for the team
I picked up the Trinity set and Dr Fate, so I expanded this goal to ‘DCU models’ with the next four models (Dr Fate and the Trinity) now the remaining portion of the goal.
Filling Out the Frostgrave Bestiaries
I painted up this cool crocodile model, which is the Bull Snapper from Hordes.
More Frostgrave Terrain
I got quite a bit of additional terrain built and commenced over the month, although no photos to share as yet. I built the Orphidian Archway (https://www.games-workshop.com/Ophidian-Archway) from Game Workshop which I’d picked up a little while ago. Whilst a well detailed and interesting model, as you’d expect from GW, I found the build a little fiddly and challenging given the way it goes together.
New Airbrush One
Earlier in the year, Badger ran a sale where you could get any airbrush in their range for $56. I picked up an Anthem 155 and a Sotar 20/20 on Wyrm’s recommendation. The Anthem 155 arrived last week, but I haven’t had a chance to get it out and give it a run as yet but have the Ophidian Archway lined up to start with hopefully this weekend.
Conclusion
Still going strong month two of the year, and hoping the momentum continues. I’m excited to get the new brush up and running when I get time, and to knock out some serious hobby with it.
